Go Orange in April
April is Prevention of Cruelty to Animals month promoted by the ASPCA. To promote awareness, the color orange (ASPCA's color) is used in creative ways. If you have a unique way of supporting, celebrating and creating awareness of this event, show your orange by entering the ASPCA's photo contest! http://www.aspca.org/about-us/aspca-april/go-orange-photo-contest/

Is Your Pet a Trickster?
In our March newsletter, we presented the "St. Paw Tricks" challenge. Did you teach your pet a new trick? Does your pet already know all the tricks in the book? Ah, does your pet know a unique trick that stands out from all others? This Friday, April 9th is the opening of the Everything Pets Expo at Cincinnati's Duke Energy Convention Center. The event runs through Sunday, April 11th. If your pet isn't a trickster, you can still enjoy all the events, seminars, visit the exhibitors, maybe find a new fur friend to take home with you at one of the many adoption/rescue organizations that will be present. Take Your Dog for a Spin
As you know, we're all about keeping our doggies fit! On Saturday, April 17th is your chance to do some spring "cleansing" for you and your pet plus help a great cause.
"Circles for Circle Tail" is a run/walk benefiting Circle Tail, Inc. You and your pooch complete as many loops as you want between 8:00 AM and 11:30 AM on a 2-mile paved path.The event will take place at Winton Woods, Sweetgum Slopes Shelter. Registration is $25 for 1 person and 1 dog. There will be prizes for the male and female finishers completing the most "circles" (laps). After the event, enjoy refreshments, prizes and a brief service dog demonstration.
This is a wheelchair friendly event and strollers are welcome too. For you runners training for the Flying Pig...what an excellent way to get in your Saturday morning training run!

When Pigs Fly!
Less than one month from now, pigs will fly in Cincinnati!
Sunday, May 2, 2010 at 6:30 AM will be the start of the 12th Flying Pig Marathon! Your faithful Paw Joggers will be there running AND working! I, Billie Mendoza, will be "flying" another 26.2! John, a.k.a. Officer Mendoza, will be helping to keep course traffic under control. I'm sure we'll "run" into each other somewhere on the route!
If you received the March newsletter, then you also know that I'm running for two causes this year, Leukemia & Lymphoma and Multiple Sclerosis. If you wish to donate to either, please visit www.firstgiving.com/billiemendoza for the full letter and donation options. Many thanks to all who have already donated!
If you're unable to donate, but would still like to help, the Accelerated Cure Project for MS is an official charity of the Flying Pig Marathon and is looking for volunteers. The ACP group will be volunteering at the 1/2 marathon turn-a-round point. If you'd like to volunteer as a Flying Pig "grunt", please contact Paw Joggers and I can give you details on signing up.
For those that want to be a part of the action, but prefer NOT to run or volunteer, come on out and give the runners the motivation they need to cross that finish swine! The Flying Pig spectators are the best without a doubt!
